Dr. Krause est un expert en évaluation non-destructive (END) des matériaux en utilisant les tourbillons et les techniques d'ultrasons.

Thomas W. Krause a reçu son baccalauréat de l'Université de Calgary à Calgary, Alberta, Canada en 1987. Il a réussi sa maîtrise et son doctorat en physique à L’Université McMaster à Hamilton, Ontario, Canada en 1989 et 1992 respectivement. Il a été un membre du groupe « Applied Magnetics » de Université Queen’s à Kingston, Ontario, Canada de 1992 à 1996. En 1996, il a occupé un poste de physicien avec les Laboratoires Canadiens nucléaires en tant que responsable du développement des technologies d’essais non destructifs (END) pour l'industrie nucléaire. En 2006, il a accepté un poste de professeur agrégé au Collège militaire royal du Canada. En 2008, il a été promu professeur titulaire. Il dispose de 24 années d'expérience en recherche et développement avancés en technologie END, y compris les courants de Foucault, les courants de Foucault pulsés, le bruit Barkhausen magnétique et le sondage des matériaux et structures par ultrasons.

La recherche en END comprend l'expérimentation en laboratoire et la modélisation par ordinateur dans les champs d'étude suivants :

  • Courants de Foucault pulsés
  • Courant de Foucault du champ éloigné
  • Probabilité de détection
  • Inspection par méthodes ultrasoniques
