Brief History

Dr. Wowk began working at RMCC in September 2008. Before coming to RMCC, Dr. Wowk worked as an Engineering Analyst for five (5) years performing finite element analyses for the aerospace, automotive, rail, public transport and manufacturing industries. Her previous research topics include geometric optimization of a bus bumper for impact, exploring different methods of using finite element simulation to determine geometry factors for crack growth and developing a material model for high-rate deformation of AA5754.

Current Projects

  • Using finite element analysis to predict crack growth in aerospace components
  • Developing a finite element methodology for predicting the residual strength in aerospace honeycomb panels subject to impact damage
  • Using finite element analysis to predict bundle deformation of nuclear fuel
