Richard Carrier obtained his Ph. D. in International History after making a research on the fighting power of the Italian army in the Parallel War (June 1940-March 1941). During his doctoral researches, he got a scholarship from the Overseas Research Student Awards Scheme (Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals of the Universities of the United Kingdom) and from the Fonds FCAR. Before joining the Royal Military College of Canada in January 2008, he was from 1996 to 2007 a senior lecturer at the Campus Saint-Jean of the Royal Military College of Canada. He has been a nominee for the Teaching Excellence Award of the Royal Military College of Canada in 2007. He currently researches on the Italian Army in the Second World War, especially in the period between 1940 and 1943.
