Dr. Stéphanie A.H. Bélanger is the Associate Scientific Director of the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research, a unique consortium of over 35 Canadian universities dedicated to researching the health needs of military personnel, Veterans and their families. She is co-editor in chief of the Journal of Military, Veteran and Family Health (University of Toronto Press 2015); he co-editor of “Beyond the line: Military and Veteran Health Research” (MQUP 2013); of A New Coalition for a Challenging Battlefield (CDA Press 2012) and of Shaping the future (CDA Press 2011), as well as of Transforming traditions (CDA Press 2010). She is associate professor at the French Department of the Royal Military College of Canada where her research focusses on War Testimony and Soldier Identity. She also specializes on military ethics and the Representation of the Warrior through Just War Theories, topic on which she published the monograph Guerre, sacrifices et persécutions (French only) (Paris: Editions l'Harmattan, 2010). Active researcher, she co-chairs the annual CIMVHR forum as well as the War Memories International Conference 2014 (French only); she frequently presents conferences at the national and international level as well as publishes articles and chapters in peer reviewed journals and books. She completed her PhD degree at the University of Toronto in 2003 and her MPA degree at RMCC in 2013. She is co-chair of the Kingston Garrison Diversity Advisory Group for Persons with Disabilities since 2010 and she serves in the Royal Canadian Navy as a reservist since 2004.
