I am Professor in Computer Engineering and Primary Investigator with the Computer Security Laboratory of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the Royal Military College of Canada where I am also Chair for Cybersecurity. In addition, I am the Interim President, Chief Negotiator and Grievance Officer of the Canadian Military Colleges Faculty Association.

  • Computer and Network Security.
  • Modelling of USB Human Interface Device use.
  • Computer Network Defence Policies and Procedures.
  • Applications of Computer Network Operations to Constructive Simulations.

Research Projects

  • Cybersecurity of vehicular systems. Examinig how we defend the complex networks that are part of modern vehicles, with application to both military and commercial vehicle fleets.
  • Advanced Network Traffic Analysis. Examining how we characterize network traffic to help with the detection of intrusions or anomalous behaviour. Characterizing traffic in SCADA networks is of particular interest as a research area.
  • Intrusion Detection Work Flow Modelling. Seeing how people actually conduct intrusion detection. Intent to investigate workflow modeling tehcniques, and apply them to the intrusion detection task.
  • Vulnerabilty Analysis. Understanding the vulnerabilities of commonly used protocols with a view of defending them more efficiently.

Dr. Leblanc is actively seeking graduate students whose research interest coincide with his. Graduate students would be expected to work on the Research Projects listed above, or in related fields.
