Biography

In addition to his professorship with the Royal Military College of Canada, Dr. Dhamin Al-Khalili also hold an adjuct professorship position at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Concordia University in Montreal.

His research interests include VLSI architecture in areas of computer arithmetic and signal processing, low power electronics, testability analysis and design automation.

He received his B.Sc degree in 1966 and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UK) in 1970 and 1972 respectively. He joined the Ontario Centre for Microelectronics (OCM) in 1982, as a Senior Engineer then a Senior Consultant. In 1986, he worked as a Research Director with the Canadian Semiconductor Design Association (CSDA), an industrial consortium. Before joining OCM, he worked at the Winnipeg Microelectronics Center as a Design Engineer, then a Senior Engineer and Project Leader. In 1994/95, he worked for one year as a Research Industrial Fellow at Northern Telecom, Ottawa.

Positions held overseas include Associate Professor, Associate Head, then Chairman of the School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Technology, Iraq. He also worked as a Director of Electronic Research and Development Laboratory at the same University.

Dr. Al-Khalili was the chairman of the CSDA's Technical Committee for nine years and worked as a consultant to the Canadian Microelectronics Corporation (CMC) on design methodologies, then as a member of CMC's Technical Advisory Committee for three years. He was also a member of the Advisory Committee, then a consultant to the ATEC Microelectronics Education Program.
