MWO Wallace Rideout, MMM, CD
MWO Wallace Rideout joined the Canadian Forces September 1983 under the Youth Training Employment Program (YTEP). He was born in Springdale and grew up in the small fishing community of Long Island Newfoundland with four brothers and three sisters. He was posted to 2RCR CFB Gagetown New Brunswick where he completed 10 months basic and trades training as an Infantryman. He remained in 2RCR until 1996 completing a range of courses; deployments and promotions.
On completion of the Infantry Section Commanders Course (ISCC) in December 1985 he was promoted to MCpl and posted to J Coy 2RCR as a section 2IC participating in multiple training exercises including Norway, RV's and field exercises in CFB Gagetown.
Promoted to the rank of Sergeant January 1989 on completion of the Small Arms Instructors Course (SAIC) he was deployed to CFB Goose Bay to participate in OP UNIQUE with Hotel Coy 2RCR. In 1990 MWO Rideout deployed as a section Commander with Kilo Coy 2RCR during the Oka Crisis in Oka Quebec. On return from Oka; deployment training started for Op Snow goose. He deployed as a line NCO with Hotel Coy 2RCR to Nicosia Cyprus August 1991. On return from Cyprus, training ramped up for the next mission to Bosnia. MWO Rideout deployed to Bosnia as a section commander with Kilo Coy Anti Armour platoon in November 1992 as part of the 2RCR BG.
Promoted to Warrant Officer July 1994 he attended the Infantry QL6B course at the Infantry School September 1994. In 1995, he deployed to Holland, France and Germany as part of the 50th Anniversary Canada Remembers tour parading in numerous locations in Europe as the contingent Sergeant major. In January 1996 he deployed back to Bosnia as a platoon 2IC with Golf Coy 2RCR. On return he was posted to the Infantry School in August 1996 to the Anti Armour Cell. MWO Rideout instructed on numerous courses including Advance TOW; phase 2; phase 3 and QL6B. He was posted back to 2RCR August 2000 as Anti Armour Platoon 2IC. In June 2002 MWO Rideout was posted to 3RCR Petawawa as CQMS O-Coy. In addition, he deployed as part of the security forces on three separate G8 summits in Halifax 1995, Calgary 2002 and Huntsville 2010.
He was promoted to MWO in 2006 and appointed CSM Oscar Coy. He deployed to Afghanistan 2008 with Army Lessons Learned as the Army Lessons Learned Liaison MWO. MWO Rideout was posted 2010 to Ottawa as Training MWO with the Close Combat Vehicle Project (CCV). MWO was posted to RMCC Kingston July 2012 as the Training Wing Sergeant-Major.
