Brief History

Dr. Perez joined the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at RMCC as an Assistant Professor in August 2008. Prior to this appointment, he was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies (UTIAS). He received his B.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering from Ryerson University in 2000. Dr. Perez obtained his M.A.Sc. from the University of Toronto in 2001, and he earned his Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering also from University of Toronto in 2007. He also has industrial experience working for Bombardier Aerospace in Montreal. Currently, he is leading the Advanced Aircraft Design Laboratory at RMCC. His current research focuses on three areas: the multidisciplinary analysis, design and optimization of non-planar lifting surfaces and environmentally friendly aircraft configurations, the analysis and design of autonomous soaring strategies for UAV vehicles and the development of computational frameworks for aerospace vehicles design and optimization.
